The Lancer Evolution has long been Mitsubishi’s flagship performance model. Originally designed as the
base vehicle for homoglation requirements in Mitsubishi’s Group N rallying campaign, each new model
often incorporates developments learned from competition through the prior season. The EVO IX model
is no different in that regard, however it also picks up some improvements that help make it a better road
car as well.

The body shape and brake package basically carry over from the VII-VIII models, however the biggest
addition over the outgoing VIII model is the addition of Mivec variable inlet valve timing on the engine.

Primarily fitted to help the engine meet emissions requirements, its configuration can also be altered for
notably better performance (more on this later though!). Further improvements in this model included:

- New 6 speed manual transmission, up from 5 speed transmission on the outgoing model. While
quite a good gearbox and able to handle a fair bit of punishment, please note that it is NOT
bulletproof as some would believe..!
-Claimed 0-100kph time is now 5.7 sec compared to 6.1 sec for the outgoing model with in gear
acceleration also noticeably quicker (partially due to engine performance improvements, partially
due to better gearing as a result of the extra gear ratio).
- New external aero package to reduce drag and front end lift, and improve downforce.
- 60kg reduction in weight (aluminium roof, lighter side intrusion bars and lighter wheels have been
fitted, among other things).
- Better turbocharger with revised exhaust housing for improved flow and better response.
- Quoted fuel consumption by Mitsubishi drops from 10.9L/100km with the EVO VIII down to
10.0L/100km with the new EVO IX (however it must be said, few people achieve this figure!).
Both on road and on track, the EVO IX is a great all round package. As a starting point it is pretty good,
but modified, it only gets better… ;-P

A Lamborghini Gallardo was destroyed by a group of men in the Chinese city of Qindao. The owner of the Italian sports car decided to smash it to show his disappointment with Lamborghini.

The Lamborghini Gallardo was bought six months ago, but the engine failed to start on November 29, 2010. The owner contacted the Lamborghini dealer in Qingdao and they transported the Gallardo to their maintenance center. The engine problem wasn't solved, but instead the bumper and chassis were damaged by the transport. The owner complained by the dealer but they refused to take responsibility in this matter, so the angry owner contacted Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann, the brand's China headquarters, its after-sales service manager for Asia-Pacific region, and the brand's owner Volkswagen Group, but the problem was not solved.

Angry about the service, the owner felt his consumer rights were ignored. So he decided that the best way to gain attention was to destroy his car on the 15th of March, which is also World Consumer Rights Day. Apparently, he hired people to publicly destroy his car with hammers and make his statement. This protest was made to provoke public support and goad the manufacturer to respect his consumer rights.

Mitsubishi introduced the Lancer Evolution IX in Japan on 3 March 2005 and exhibited the car at the Geneva Motor Show for the European market the same day. North American markets believed that the example given in the New York International Auto Show next month. The 2.0 L 4G63 engine has MIVEC technology (variable valve timing), and a revised turbocharger design to increase official output at crankshaft to 291 PS (214 kW 287 hp) and torque of 392 N m ( 289 lbs ft).

The USDM Lancer Evolution IX models: standard (Grand Sport Rally or "GSR" in some markets), RS (Rally Sport), SE (Special Edition) and MR (Mitsubishi Racing) has varied slightly in their performance capabilities. Subtleties unique to each model for variations in acceleration, handling and speed. The standard RS features excluded in the standard, SE and MR models (stereo system, power windows and locks, rear wiper, rear spoiler, inside the trunk and sound insulation). The result is a weight saving of more than 60 pounds (27 kg)

Although the RS is the lightest of the group, the Republic of Serbia failed to surpass the standard and IX MR around a circuit (if only by fractions of a second). This was intended to be a lack of a rear spoiler on the RS. In a sprint, the three models are all about even. The RS model was produced by teams rally racing and wanted a platform to build a race car. That is stripped of all amenities, and other improvements that drive the price for the features that the race teams would not be necessary.

The IX MR retains the features of the Evolution VIII MR like Bilstein shocks, a 6-speed manual transmission, a vortex generator on the roof, BBS forged wheels, HID xenon headlights, fog lights, accessory gauge package, " zero lift "kit, special emblems and an aluminum roof. All models continued to sport Recaro seats, Brembo brakes and steering wheel Momo. Additional revisions from 2005 include a closer relationship up to a 5-speed manual transmission, new lighter Enkei wheels on non-MR models, a redesigned interface with more efficient air dam (the most notable feature is the two canals small, oval to cool the intercooler pipes), and a new rear bumper with a diffuser undersurface to smooth the airflow coming out of the car to U.S. models do not. In an effort to reduce the price increase in the Evolution IX model, [citation needed] HID headlamps are standard equipment is no longer on the base IX (nor were they standard on the 2005 VIII), and were only available in the package SSL (Sun, Sound and Leather), SE (Special Edition) and MR trims.

* GT - revised 5-speed, this is basically the RS mechanically, but with some features of the GSR (parts, mainly the interior).
* GSR - 6-speed, Bilstein monotube shocks, aluminum roof, gauge pack Sayce (Super Active Yaw Control), and double-DIN radio (this is roughly equivalent to the USDM MR).

In the United Kingdom, the Evolution IX uses a different model scheme based on the power of the car. There were initially three models available: the FQ-300, CF-320 CF-340, each with approximately 300, 320 and 340 hp (254 kW) respectively. A CF-360 model was subsequently released as a successor to the Evolution VIII FQ-400. While the new FQ-360 produces less power than its predecessor, there were over 363 lbs torque feet (492 N m ) at 3200 rpm. The four models were designed to run on super unleaded petrol only. The MR FQ-360 also was published in a limited number (only 200) in the last year of production.

All American models are the same in power and performance. The only thing difference is the RS, Evo, which is 80 pounds (36 kg) lighter than the MR and SE models.

For the standard model, the Sun, Sound and Leather package adds a power sunroof, HID xenon headlights with integrated fog lights, a slightly different stereo headunit (with no integral amplifier), slightly better speakers in the front doors and shelf , 4.1 channel amplifier under the driver's seat, power trunk-mounted Infinity subwoofer, black leather seating surfaces Leather-trimmed door panels, slightly revised center armrests in the front and rear, and separate rear side headrests. This model deleted the GSR stellar mounted sunglasses holder to make room for the sunroof.

Philippines had the Evolution IX, until August 2008, which is offered in two trims, the entry-level RS offers a 5-speed manual transmission, Brembo 17-in. ventilated discs (4-Pot), 16-in Brembo ventilated drum in disc (2-Pot), and almost the same features of the GSR to the seat in the international version. The MR was the top-of-the-line segment, which offers nearly the same characteristic as that of MRI in the international verision seat. All are powered by a L4 2.0 4G63 MIVEC turbocharged.

The trend has changed again in 2003, this time sporting 17 "Gray Enkei wheels, Brembo brakes and BILSTEIN shocks to handle traction and a 5-speed manual gearbox with 280 hp (271 kW hp/206). The Lancer Evolution VIII was also the first development to be sold in the United States , driven by the success of the Subaru Impreza WRX, which had been released there just three years earlier. The Evolution VIII found its true competition in the Subaru Impreza WRX STI model the same year that the evolution of the Eighth U.S. introduction. However, the internal components of the American versions were largely stripped-versions of the specifications for the Japanese Lancer Evolution VIII. Lancer Evolution VI

The evolution of the VI changes focused mainly on the engine cooling and durability. Received a larger intercooler, larger oil cooler, and new pistons, along with a titanium aluminide turbine wheel for the RS model, which was the first in a production car. Moreover, the evolution VI received new bodywork yet again, with the most easily identifiable in the front bumper where the huge fog lights have been reduced in size and moved to the corners for better airflow. A new model was added to the GSR and RS line, known as the RS2, it was an RS with some of the options in the GSR. Another limited-edition RS was known as the RS Sprint, an RS tuned by Ralliart in the UK to be lighter and more powerful 330 hp (246 kW).

Yet another special edition Evolution VI was also released in 1999: Tommi Mäkinen edition, the name of Finnish rally driver Tommi Mäkinen who had won Mitsubishi four WRC drivers championships. Presented a front, Red / Black Recaro seats (T. Makinen logo embossed), of 17 "ENKEI white wheels, a leather MOMO steering wheel and shift knob, a titanium turbine that queue up faster, the superior frontal structure brace, lowered ride height (with tarmac stages in mind), and a quicker steering ratio. Among other colors, the Evo VI came in either red, white, blue, black or silver, with an option to special decals, playing Tommi Mäkinen rally car's color scheme. This car is also sometimes referred to as an Evolution 6, Evolution 6.5, or TME for short.

In 1982, a new model was launched called the Lancer Fiore also known as the third version, based on the Mitsubishi Mirage. The Fiore was often sold as a Lancer in international markets, but the Mirage Sedan and the five-door Hatchback model remained in production for much of the 1980s.
