limited edition Evolution IX station wagon was released in Japan shortly after the debut of the sedan. It uses the back of the Lancer Sportback wagon grafted onto the sedan. Two trim models were introduced: the GT with a six-speed manual transmission and the GT-A with a 5-speed automatic. Unlike the station wagon back, redesigned seats and some chromed trims, the interior of the car was the same as the sedan.
